Late work

There are no grading penalties for late work, but late work gets no written comments. Turning something in late means you miss the window in which I have time set aside to read it carefully. You are always welcome to come to office hours and we can talk about the assignment instead.

This flexibility easily applies to A1. For A2, you get to pick the exam time of your choice, so this does not really apply. This policy is a little more difficult with A3 as it is built on milestones that help you slowly develop the project throughout the arc of the class. A late submission throws off everything after it (e.g., you submit a first draft late → your colleagues give you comments late → you can’t implement changes in time for the presentation). These dependencies make it difficult to veer away from the schedule.

The two oral components (the peer review draft and the final presentation) happen in class on assigned dates and cannot be moved. The only date that is flexible in any way is the submission of the final paper, which is due on December 4. The latest you can turn in the final paper is December 15, which is the day that grades are due. Alas, these are Institute rules and I cannot bend them.
